The Old Broadway Bar and Grill

http://www.theoldbroadway.com/diner.php

This morning, I started off the day with Eggs Benedict at The Old Broadway Diner.

The Old Broadway is probibly the nicest diner I've eaten at in Fargo. There's a certain "hipness" that comes from it. It's like a Fargo gal gussied herself up and brushed her teeth for a night on the town...but you know, deep down, even though she MAY be heading out for a night of culture and fine dining, she's just going to go back home to her trailer and heat up a tv dinner when it's all done.

There's a fabulous mural on the wall, they play nothing but jazz, the decore is impecable.

It feels so fucking fake. Like it's trying SO hard to be hip that it's kinda scary.

The food wasn't bad. Decent holindase sauce, The english muffin was a little tough, but I'll just let that slide. Coffee was decent, and they had real cream...which was a nice touch. But I couldn't help but feel like it was just TRYING far to hard to be cool. Like it was forcing "HEY...we're HIP, ya know daddio! Like...COOOLSVILLE man."

Definatly worth a stop, still not sure if I like it yet or not.

The First and Ten Project: A Staticlog

This is the First and Ten Project to cronical the true gems of the city I live in...
Or at least the city that I'm living in for the next 10 months.

My Name is Jason Siebels, I'm a lifelong resident of Fargo, North Dakota, and in the year 2006 I will be leaving the town I grew up in for forign shores, and sunny skies.

Which made me stop and pause concerning Fargo. I mean, it's a fun little town, a happening little burg. But, well...it's dead.

A traveler coming to Fargo would wonder what the hubbub is all about, what is it about the city that...well...is that bloody interesting.

That's where this comes in. In my last 10 months living in Fargo, I've decided to track down the litle diamonds in the rough. I'll be testing resturants that I've never tried before, clubs, cofee shops...

It's a regular Travelog...only, I'm not going anywhere. So that means it's a Staticlog.

This is my home...for 10 more months. I plan to squeeze the life out of this little place, and leave a little something behind for others who find it.
